Description:
27.5 - 35MW W-251 B8 Turbine Generator Set for sale. Includes all structures and spare parts (Peaking Unit/ only ran 2900 hr anually). This complete simple cycle power plant (13.8 kV 60Hz) was disassembled and match marked by a team of engineers with our support. All maintenance records, specs, and manuals needed for the construction and operating of this equipment are available. The last major overhaul was in 2004, and the Plant operated until October of 2007. Full inspection conducted in april 2009 and available for customer. Equipment in good condition. In lay up maintenance waiting for a home... A large inventory of new and refurbished spare parts will be sold with this unit. Complete spares for primary and secondary baskets along with spares for all transitions. Spare clutch assembly as well along with spares of just about all seals and fuel nozzles. Complete itemized spare parts list available on request.

Available for immediate delivery, already professionally de-installed under engineers direction and stored in controlled conditions.

This W251 was up-rated and has run at 100% of design capacity since its re-installation. After overhaul the machine was first fired after re-installation, which began in December 1990, and it went into commercial operation on May 1, 1991.

The turbine was manufactured in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at the Westinghouse Lester Branch plant, and was originally installed in April of 1975. The turbine was operated on distillate liquid fuel. The machine has dual fuel capability but has been operated solely on natural gas fuel since re-installation. All of the auxiliary components were purchased along with the turbine from the original plant with the exception of the generator. Please see the Scope of Supply attached for a list of the auxiliary components and the spares inventory.

Since re-installation the machine has been maintained according to OEM recommendations for maintenance schedules. A yearly combustion inspection was conducted, a hot gas path inspection was done every three years and a major inspection was done every six years. Maintenance records are available for review.

The plant was operated as a PURPA cogeneration qualifying facility. It met all environmental regulations at the time of decommissioning. The gas turbine has steam injection at a rate of 21,000 lbs/hr at 450PSI and 625 F. for NOx control. The plant operated as a peaking plant for 15 hours a day excluding week ends and holidays, supplying a nominal 38 MW to the grid.

Prior to re-installation the unit was overhauled and rebuilt at the Westinghouse plant in Hamilton, Ontario in 1990. The overhaul included eight new primary and secondary combustion baskets, a new natural gas fuel skid, new fuel nozzles and manifold, as well as a new steam injection manifold.

The rotor had a 2A inspection, the disks were unbolted and un-stacked to permit a full NDT inspection.

A New heat exchanger was installed to recover heat rejected from rotor exhaust heat to preheat the natural gas fuel to approximately 200 F. This resulted in a heat rate efficiency gain of about 1-1/2%. This addition minimizes condensation during the injection of steam into the gas manifold.

The inlet plenum was modified and variable inlet guide vanes were installed to permit control of the exhaust temperature, and thereby maintain steam superheating in the HRSG (not included in sale).

The row 1 turbine blades and vane segments were recently upgraded to the B8 design. The transition pieces side seals were also upgraded to the B8 design in 2003.
